Recycle Centre

A recycle centre is a location where all of the different recyclable materials are recycled. Such centres will either specialise in domestic recycle, for example household goods, or they will specialise in commercial recycling and this will include larger items. Whilst recycling is not a new thing, the publicity and drive around it has increased in the last few years. There are now government initiatives to ensure that people are recycling and businesses are also being encouraged to recycle. Failure to recycle results in a major amount of wastage and ultimately means that waste goes to landfill rather than being used to produce other materials that can be used again.

Households throughout the UK are encouraged to recycle by the Government and local governments. Most households are provided with recycling bins and it then becomes the responsibility of the people within a house to separate their recycling into the correct bins. What recycling bins a household will have depends upon the local government; most commonly people are asked to recycle glass and paper. In some areas the range of recycling is much larger and includes recycling cardboard, plastic packaging, tin cans and garden waste. It is likely that in the future all households will be asked to recycle a larger range of items. Businesses usually have their own recycling policies in place in order to encourage employees to recycle and look after the environment.

When all of the items have been collected by the recycling teams the items will be taken to a recycle centre. Here different things happen, this is determined by the material of the item. For example plastic is usually crushed together in order to produce other items and glass bottles are usually remanufactured and reused. Through recycling the environment is saved and there is all substantial financial savings.

There are not recycling collections in every area within the UK and therefore some people that want to recycle may not be provided with a service to do so. In such cases people can take their recycling to a recycle centre that is located in central location, for example many supermarkets have small recycling centres within their car parks. The items are simply placed into the correct containers and these will then be collected and taken for recycling. There are many different items that can be recycled in this way and therefore those people who not have a collection service should us a recycle centre.
